4. Prepare your brush when it's new
6m 16s
In this video, I explain to you how to prepare your brush when it's new. Likewise, I show you how to clean and take care of if after your practice.
If you get a new sign painting brush, please prepare your brush a minimum of 24 hours prior to starting painting. You do this only once. This is kind of the baptism of the brush :P
NOTES:
- Please notice the way I move the new brush in the water. I move it back and forward. Try not to do circular movements, this will entangle the hairs of your brush.
- The 3 jars you see in the video are the ones I use to clean my brushes in my daily work in my studio. I recommend you get yours too. You can number them. Always use the #1 jar to start cleaning your brush and remove the excess paint. Then #2 and finally #3. With these 3 steps, you make sure your brush is paint free and ready to have its beauty treatment. If you don't clean properly your brushes you can get dry paint where the hairs get into the ferrule (the metallic part)
- You can replace the white spirit of your jars from time to time.
